Toxicology Testing
What is a Toxicology Test
Toxicology test in Kenya looks for traces of drugs in your blood, urine, hair, sweat, or saliva. This test can’t show if you have an addiction problem or not. It can’t also pinpoint how much of a drug you’ve used or when. A toxicology test is only able to tell if certain drugs are (or have recently been) in your body.
How Toxicology Test Works
A toxicology test can screen for:
- Amphetamines (AMP)
- Barbiturates (BAR)
- Tricyclic Antidepressants (TCA)
- Benzodiazepine (BZO)
- Cocaine (COC)
- Methadone (MTD)
- Morphine (MOP)
- Marijuana (THC)
- Opiates (OPI)
- Tramadol (TRA)
Why and When Would You Need a Toxicology Test?
here are different reasons why you may need to have a drug screen. You could be required to take one for a new job, a school admission, or getting an insurance policy. Many sporting programs also require players to have one.
Also, your doctor may order a toxicology test if you:
- Show signs of substance abuse
- Have problems with your mental health
- Have been taking a controlled drug for a long period of time
- To help you get treatment for substance abuse or keep your recovery on track.
What do toxicology test results mean?
Your test will come back with one of these two results:
Positive
A positive result means at least a trace of one or more drugs was found in your sample.
Negative
A negative result mean NO drugs were found in your system. This could be because you have never taken the types of drugs the test was looking for, or if you have, your body has already processed the drugs.
